Mindfulness !!!

 Hi Bloggers

Yesterday the 7th of December,  Hauraki did their mindfulness in the hall with Mrs Ikinofo. At the start I did not want to go because I normally find it boring (no offence) but it turned out to be really fun. So first we did the easy pose, other times first we jump and move your body's, but we did not do it because we just finished eating lunch. We did one of the most embarrassing poses that I have done and most sorest thing ever. It is called the frog pose, so the pose is kind of a squat but instead you keep your hand on the floor and you have to put your leg straight, I could not even do it so I just put my legs back further. My favorite parts of the lesson was the hula hoop bit when everybody got into a circle and held hands and tried to get the hula hoop around the circle without letting our hands go. Our time was 2 minutes. My other favorite thing was when we got to lay down for 5 minutes.

Biking Skills

 Hi Bloggers

On the 23rd of November Hauraki did there biking skills.  Our two teachers for the lesion was Holly and Chelle .At first I thought it would be boring but it turned out to be fun. Frist they talked all about the helmet they had some unsafe helmet to show what is bad and told us what we need to have on it and what we need to check before putting the helmet on and biking or skateboarding and more. So then this was when we got started with the bikes but before that they ask who is super confident with biking and who is not so then the one of the teachers took my group and the other teacher tock the other group. My group learnt how to do the ABCD checklist before going on the bike and riding away. A stands for air in the wheels, B stands for brakes, C stands for control and chains and then D standed for drop test. After a little the teacher tested us with our braking skills so she told us that we had to ride to a line and try to make the front wheel on the line without putting your foot down. My favorite part of the lesson for me was probably the turtle race and the box and turbo box. It was so Fun!!!!

For the second lesson we did like the same thing. But this lesion left more fun but I did not know why. But what we did do that we did not do in the other lesion was follow the leader on the field. It was really tiring because it is hard to ride on grass. When we played the box game I  finally beat Ari and I was so happy because he is really really good at biking.

Skateboarding

 Hi bloggers

Today the 20th of November, Hauraki did their skateboarding lessons. Our coach's names were Ben and Laurence.  First our warm up was laps around both of our school courts then we got split into 2 groups. After that we did another warm up but in our groups one of our warm ups was about balance. Then next we got the skateboard and started to do the tick - tack. After that we tried to walk on the skateboard and how you do it is you put one of your foot on the nose and the other on the tail then lift one foot then slide the side that has been lifted. My favourite part of the lesson was something like we put our feet under the skateboard. But the skateboard is facing down and then you have to flip it and jump at the same time and try to land it. It was too easy. Then I did the same thing but I had to jump and do the 180 and I land it and then I tried 360 but I did not land it but I was so close.  My other favourite part was what's up wolf pack game and I won both rounds and for the last part of the skateboarding lesson we got to do whatever we wanted on the skateboard. It was so fun!!!!

For our second session we did similar stuff but not all of the stuff  we did in the other session. We did do the balancing and when the skateboard is facing down and you have to jump on it. but it was even more fun because we played whats up wolf pack but way more times than the last session. Also we had more free time. I asked one of the coaches what is your hardest tricks and then he did it and then said " easy!" After that when we got our free time he tried to a trick and missed and I bet that was has hardest trick to do. Wow after that I felt like skateboarding should be my thing. here are some pictures of the day.

Production !!!

Hi bloggers.

On the 4th, 5th, 6th of November we did our school production at Waikowhai intermediate. In our productions we have a theme to it and this years theme was Aladdin but in most of our productions we have changes to it like for example if it was Peter Pan we might make Peter Pan go on a adventure around the world instead of him staying in his own country. But for this year it did have changes and the name had changed is well instead of it being Aladdin it was Aladdin and Jasmine and in the story one of the changes was when Omar sent Gewiz (Omar's assistant)  to send Aladdin's boat a drift at night because that was were Aladdin stayed for the night and then Aladdin was stuck at the bottom the the sea in a fishing net. And when the scene change each class from our school does their class dance. My favourite dance is probably Haumia, I liked their dance and their song which was Roar. Our class dance was called R.E.S.P.E.C.T  and I really like that song is well. I was back stage and in the item (class dance). Some of the funny bits of the production was like when Jasmine said "I want to go travel the world go one my O-E" and then some one in the crowd said "Are the borders open?".

Garden to table

 Hi bloggers

This year the senior syndicate got to eat broccoli/cauliflower with cheese source. We got the broccoli and cauliflower from the senior gardens that we planted at the start of term 2. I was one of the first group to eat it, but I did not know what was going on until I saw a  hot     pot of the cheese source and then I saw broccoli and cauliflower. Then I was like in my brain, It is going to be delicious and as I thought it was. Then I saw more people coming when I left and I told them how yum the broccoli/cauliflower with cheese would be.

Wonder Project!!!

 Hi bloggers

On Wednesday 16th of September we had Wonder Project after along break from it because of lockdown. I was very excited about it when I saw it on the board. For that session we got to launch our first bottle rocket and I was even more excited about the Wonder Project. Every body was excited because whenever they were pumping the air in the bottle they would start counting down. But sadly the pump did not work so then we had to launch it at 30 psi.  But it did launch but it did not go as high as we thought sadly. But everybody was still happy with  height it went and that was the session for that day.

Basketball

Hi blogger commenters
This week on Wednesday we did basketball as our kiwi sport. I was very happy to do basketball because I like playing it. The people who were teaching my school were called Mikey and Ronan. They where a bit bossy at the start and they lied to my class, They said that if Mikey can get the ball off my teacher then we can punish them but if Mikey did not get the ball off then they can punish us. Then Mikey got the ball of my teacher but then he said " ok today's lesson is over" then he said " we are to nice and we are not going to punish your teacher" There was one game that I loved the most at the end of the lesson I am not sure what it is called but there is one person in the middle with the ball and the other is trying it get the ball of and if the person that is trying to get the ball off and he does in ten seconds then that person who got it off starts with the ball and trying to make sure that the other person did not get the ball off. But if the other person that has the ball keep the ball with him for ten seconds that means that he is still in the middle of the circle protecting the ball again for ten seconds. It was very fun doing the basketball and I got used to Mikey. Thanks for seeing my blog.

Basketball Zones😜!!!

Hey Bloggers
On August the 4th Tuesday the people in Waikowhai from the seniors  that had  made it ot basketball zone went to trust arena with the help of some parents that could help us take us to the trust arena and back to school. The people that made it into basketball zones were, Daiki, Freddy, Jihu, Marcus, Yousef, Lielah, Demetrius, Peityn and finay Disaree. The people who could help to take the people in basketball and back were Jihu's dad, Marcus's Mum and Jamie's mum and then the teacher Mr Riceman and he was the one who was our coach for the team. The time for each game was very short but it felt long because the game was only 10 min and we had 10 in our team. so it was very easy to sub because we had partners. So we switched  every 5 min but after lunch my team started then our partners did because they started the first half of before the launch. Our first game we played Christ The King and the and we won it 14-0, then the next game we won again to Christ The King and we won 10-2, then after that we lost 4-6 to Hillsborough, then after that we won Marshall Laing by 18-0, then after that we won to Hey Park 12-4, then after that we vs Hillsborough again and lost 10-8, then after that we vs Marshall Laing again and won 24-4, then after that we vs Christ The King again 6-14, after that we vs Hay Park and won again, Christ The King and we won. So over all we did very good and we play 10 lost 2 and won 8. So that was our day at basketball zones. I would like to say a thank you to the parents and Mr Riceman you helping us there.

Matariki Day

Hi bloggers!
On thursday the 23rd of july the senior syndicate had a rotational activity that we did. We rotated by class so Hauraki started at  and the 2 other class Manukau, Waitemata starts at there class and then we move to the next class and it was very fun that day because we did the three things that I like to do sometimes. The three rotational actives that we did was, in Hauraki we made kites or in Maori they say tukutuku, For the next activity that we did was making Maori bread and it was super easy because let me tell you how to make it so first you get out a chopping board and a big spoon and a cooking bowl and finally a pan and put oil about a half the cooking pan and heat it. Then you get self rising flour and get around one and a quarter and put it in with the flour then you mix it in the bowl with the big spoon and make sure you don't make the dough too soggy, then you cut it up in to pieces of as much as you want. Then put it in to the hot pan and put it in carefully os it dose not splash about when you put it in. Then the last activity that we did was animation of a Maori myth and to make the animation we either got to use the playdough or draw or use paper. Then we needed to use Chromebook to use the animation.
And that what it was like on that day.
Here is some pictures.

Cross Country 😉 😉 😉

Hi Bloggers
On Thursday the 2nd of July we had Cross Country at our school Waikowhai. But our school starts at 9 O'clock and the Cross Country starts at 11 O'clock. We had a early morning tea. We had it at 10:30. Then after the morning tea we got ready and sat in front of our year group set school the year 6 people in the school was helping with the stations because the year 6s are running last. So then The year 5 went to the last station because they go second to last and then of course the year four people would go to the second to last station. As you know then it would go down a year until it got to the year ones run first. The first station we went on the playground or play with other equipments like the blocks instuff. After that we went to the tennis station were  and we of course played tennis. After after that we did the blindfold game, so how you play is that you have a partner and one of you put the blindfold on. Then after you have done that your partner will guide you by telling witch way to go like right or left and you will have a bucket to put in the soft toy if you found one. So at the last station we did the worm up and we first did about 5 stretches and then did one game of duck duck goose and then after that was my fear of doing was the run because all the time in the cross country I have been coming first and if I come 2nd I will be embarrassed because people will be like why did you not come first and the other part of it was that my mum was there!!! We also did handball .And what I like the most was actually the run because I actually out ran them by far so at lunch after our run Noah( my friend) was invited. So then my mum got us a special treat and it was the goody goody gum drop ice cream.
Here is some photos of the day.

Poetry Competition.

Hey there bloggers.
On Monday we did a poetry competition.
So about 6 weeks ago we were asked  to find a poem for the competition. You could either find a poem from the school poem books or from home or from on your chromebook or finally write one yourself. I found mine from the school books and so did most of my friends.
Then if you found one on the Chromebook or someone at the school poem books, then they print 2 out so one for you to bring home and the other to put in your writing book. You can also use actions in your poem.
On that day that you are going to do your poem you do it in separate class. Then everybody gets a sheet to score you and after a week they count up all of the points and then they announce who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The best people that I liked was Rudy and Jonathan and the cool thing about it is that they wrote it themselves.
After you finished your poem you get to pick what part of the production you want to be part of and then from there they will decide if the part is good for you.  The most scary part of the poetry competition is that the Deputy Principal is there. That is what the competition is like at our school.
Thank you for seeing my blog post.

Toolkits

Student toolkits
Hi friends! On Tuesday 18th of June, all of the Ako-Hiko schools did Toolkits.

So toolkits is about sharing a cool website that you like and you can show the Ako-Hiko schools but it was only the seniors who did it in our school. First we had to share our idea with the class then we got chosen to do the presentation to the other school and on the  15 Wednesday on June some of the people got chosen to watch the presentation. Then we did a survey to choose what presentation to do for each session. For my first session I could not do it because the internet was going slow because of everybody going on in the same time and the thing was we did it online because of lockdown and for my second one I did piskel. So here is some pictures.

Reading tumbles

Hi bloggers from around the world.
On Wednesday 15th of june we did reading tumbles and for my reading tumble I did making a poster about black and white people can mix up even if you have different skin colour. Just like the one when that black man saved a white man because of the other black people.

Creative writing.😊😊😊

Hello there my friends.
2 weeks ago the whole of Te Waka Ako did a story or any type of writing, but before that we had to choose a picture of what we wanted to write about. I choose a picture of a girl and a wolf on a broken place and it kinda looks like they are of pancakes and the way that I did it was  a story , about a girl whose life became good. The story is called It Became Good. Here is my story. It was a narrative story. Link

Lockdown Diary

Hello friends.

We were in lockdown because of Covid 19 was a disease that spreading around the world. We went in to level 3 at the 24th of March 2020. Then in two days time we went in to level four at the 26th of March with 4 1/2 weeks . Then we went back to level 3 at the 28th of April which was 2 1/2 weeks. Then the next level that we went to was level 2 at 14th of May. Then together the whole weeks of lockdown was 7 weeks. And in thoses lockdown weeks Te Waka Ako had our 2 weeks holiday at the start then for the 5 other weeks we had online working. Some people lost their jobs because of covid 19 and also takeaways was not aloud . But when it goes into level one it is fine to get takeaways. In my bubble it was just my Dad at work so my Mum had to help me and my sister and my brother who also had homework to do. How we did the lockdown diary was we went to the slide every time it says in writing. On each slide it has the dates of when we do it and we also have to do what it says on our tumbles for writing, reading and maths and one more other. Then  the other one were , science, Health  and PE, Te Reo, Art, Cybersmart and inquiry.

Here is my Lockdown Diary

The limit of people of the the field was 7 and only 3 girls and that meant that 4 boys on the field. The ripper zones was on at May road park. We traveled by car. We got put into groups and then we went into either Miss McGrath or joel's car or Mr ricemans car. we were impressed because we did only about 4 and we lost one and our 5 wins.

Hi Blogger commenters,

Te Waka ako has been doing Cybersmart with Mr Margetts. We have been re-capping the ako-hiko from last year because te ana ako had chromebooks is well, but we had Gerard. We got him because he is for people who are new to chromebooks. So we made a slideshow with Mr Margetts about the Ako- hiko and were we should be at the right time. We also had to explain what it is for.  One thing I did learn was the you don't charge it in the case.
